Mexico GDP Grows 2.4% YoY in Q2


The Mexican economy expanded 2.4 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2016, following a 2.6 percent expansion in the previous period, in line with market expectations. Farm activity recorded the highest growth rate while services expanded at a slower pace and industrial activity remained sluggish.

Agriculture grew 4.2 percent compared to 3.1 percent in the previous period while services expanded 3.2 percent, less than the 3.7 percent in the first quarter. Industrial activity advanced 0.8 percent following a 0.4 percent gain in the previous period.

On a quarterly basis, the economy shrank 0.3 percent, the first contraction in three years.
