The unemployment rate in Russia declined to 5.1 percent in June 2017 from 5.4 percent in the same month a year ago and below market expectations of 5.2 percent. It was the lowest jobless rate since October 2014, as the number of unemployed people decreased by 331 thousand to 3.846 million.
The number of unemployed people decreased by 331 thousand to 3.846 million from 4.177 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Compared to May, the number of unemployed decreased by 99 thousand from 3.945 million.
Real wages increased by 2.9 percent year-on-year in June after rising by 2.8 percent in May, but missing market expectations of a 3.4 percent gain.
