Russian Unemployment Rate Up to 5.4% in June


In June, Russia's unemployment was up to 5.4 percent from 5.2 percent in May but was unchanged when compared with June of 2012. The number of unemployed increased to 4.10 million people from 3.90 million in the previous month.

In June, the economically active population rose to 75.5 million people from 71.7 million in May, and represents about 53 percent of the total population of the country. The total number of employed reached 67.6 million, of which 52 percent (or 35.2 million) were either part-time or small businesses employees.  

In a quarterly basis, the number of unemployed decreased by 297 thousand persons when compared to the previous quarter and is unchanged when compared to Q2 of 2012.
