Australia's Jobless Rate Edges Up in June

Australia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 6.0 percent in June of 2015 from a downwardly revised 5.9 percent reported in the previous month but below market forecasts. The economy added 7300 jobs only and the number of unemployed increased by 12800.

The seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate increased to 64.8 percent from 64.7 percent in May.

Employment increased to 11,768,600. Full-time employment rose by 24,500 to 8,156,200 and part-time employment decreased by 17,200 to 3,612,400.

Unemployment increased by 12,800 to 756,100. The number of unemployed persons looking for full-time work increased 27,200 to 541,200 and the number of unemployed persons only looking for part-time work decreased 14,500 to 214,900.

Seasonally adjusted aggregate monthly hours worked series increased 5.1 million hours (0.3 percent) to 1,636.9 million hours.
