Brazil Inflation Up to 6.52% in June


Brazilian annual inflation rate accelerated further to 6.52 percent in June, up from 6.37 percent in May. However, on a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4 percent, the lowest rate in nine months.

Year-on-year, the inflation rate accelerated for the fifth straight month, staying at the upper limit of the central bank’s 4.5 percent plus or minus 2 percent target range.

On a monthly basis, food cost slowed for the third straight month and fell 0.11 percent in June, the lowest rate since July of 2013. Except for transport and health cost, all remaining prices recorded lower rates in June than in the previous month.
