The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 139,400 in June 2017, down from 140,300 when compared to the May 2017 figure and a decrease of 42,100 when compared to June 2016.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males was recorded at 7.1 percent, unchanged from May and down from 9.4 percent a year earlier; while for females it was recorded at 5.4 percent, down from 5.5 percent in the previous month and from 6.9 percent in June 2016. The number of males unemployed dropped by 200 from the previous month to 85,600, while the number of females unemployed decreased by 700 to 53,800.
Youth unemployment rate edged up to 11.9 percent from 11.8 percent in the previous month.
Unemployment has fallen sharply since the jobless rate hit a high of 15.2 percent in January 2012.
