Irish Jobless Rate Unchanged at Near 14-Year Low


Irish seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 4.5 percent in June of 2019, unchanged from the previous month’s revised level and remaining at its lowest since October of 2005.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 109,700 in June 2019, down from an upwardly revised 109,400 in May and a decrease of 30,500 when compared to June of 2018.

The unemployment rate for males was recorded at 4.7 percent, the same as in the prior month and down from 6.0 percent a year earlier; while for females it edged up to 4.3 percent from 4.2 percent in May and below 5.7 percent in June of 2018. The number of males unemployed fell by 200 from the previous month to 61,400 and that of females rose by 50 to 48,300.

The youth unemployment rate went up to 10.1 percent in May from 10.0 percent in the previous month.
