Pakistan Trade Deficit Widens in May


Pakistan´s trade deficit increased 22 percent to 213,553 million Rupees in May as 2.2 percent rise in exports was not sufficient to offset 11.3 percent surge in imports.

In May, exports were worth 213,978 million Rupees as compared to 209,441 million Rupees recorded in April and 196,886 million Rupees in May of 2012. 

In May, imports were worth 427,531 million Rupees as compared to 384,277 million Rupees in April and 355,053 million Rupees in May of 2012. 

Pakistan´s accumulative trade deficit for the first 11 months (July - May) of the fiscal year 2012-13 increased 4.7 percent yoy to 1,805,889 million Rupees.
