Mozambique Inflation Rate Up to 4.9% in May
Mozambique annual inflation rate rose to 4.90 percent in May, from 4.79 percent reported in the previous month.
On the month over month basis, the inflation rate in Mozambique decreased 0.42 percent, after increasing 0.25 percent in the previous month. While prices declined in Maputo and Beira by 0.42 percent and 1.74 percent respectively, cost of living increased by 0.19 percent in Nampula.
Although in May, annual inflation rate for Maputo increased to 5.1, prices in the city recorded its first month over month drop this year (-0.41 percent). While prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were down by 0.6 percent; cost of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose by 0.21 percent.
