Turkey Annual Inflation Rate Up To 6.51% In May


In Turkey, the inflation rate increased slightly to 6.51 percent in May, from 6.13 percent in April.

The categories which registered the highest yoy price increases were: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (16.09 percent); hotels, cafes and restaurants (8.78 percent), communication (7.49 percent); and food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.07 percent).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.15 percent in May, down from the 0.42 percent recorded in the previous month. The decline was mainly caused by a 2.18 percent decrease in food and non-alcoholic beverages. On the other hand, the highest monthly increase was 8.85 percent in clothing and footwear.
