Greece Unemployment Rate Falls Slightly to 26.5%


Greek jobless rate declined for the fifth consecutive month to 26.5 percent in February, from a downwardly revised 26.6 percent in the previous month, as the number of inactive persons increased 0.4 percent.

The number of unemployed persons amounted to 1,300,165, down by 1.1 percent over January. Employment fell by 0.1 percent and unemployment among the 15-24 age group was recorded at 56.9 percent.

Compared with February of 2013, unemployment dropped by 14,996 persons (-0.2 percent) and employment decreased by 8,964 persons. In February of 2013, the unemployment was recorded at 26.7 percent.
