Brazil Trade Surplus Tops Estimates


Brazil recorded a USD 4.86 million trade surplus in April of 2016, better than market expectations of USD 4.7 billion and the highest on record for an April month. Exports rebounded while imports decreased at a slower pace.

Exports went up 1.4 percent year-on-year to USD 15374 million, recovering from a 5.8 percent decline in the previous month. Imports shrank 28.3 percent year-on-year to USD 10513 million. It is the lowest fall in six months and follows a 30 percent drop in March.

So far this year, the country recorded a USD 13.25 billion surplus.
