Germany Unemployment Rate at 4.7%


German seasonally adjusted harmonised jobless rate was recorded at 4.7 percent in March, unchanged from a downwardly revised 4.7 percent in the previous month. Employment was marginally unchanged while unemployment fell slightly.

Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed persons fell 1 percent to 1.97 million from 1.99 million in February. 40.06 million were employed in March, roughly unchanged from the previous month. 

Compared with March 2014, unemployment fell 6.6 percent while employment grew 1.1 percent.

Youth unemployment rate remained steady at 7.2 percent compared with the previous month but was down from 7.9 percent a year earlier.   

Separate data from the Labour Office showed the number of unemployed persons decreased by 8000 to 2.79 million in April. The unemployment rate remained steady at a record low 6.4 percent.
