Spanish GDP Beats Expectations in Q1


The Spanish economy grew 0.9 percent on quarter in the first three months of 2015, compared to 0.7 percent expansion reported in the previous period, preliminary data showed. It is the highest growth rate since the first quarter of 2007.

Year-on-year, the economy expanded 2.6 percent, up from a 2 percent growth in the preceding quarter and the strongest since fourth quarter of 2007.

The Spanish Government raised its official growth forecast for 2015 for the second time in two months this week saying it now expects the economy to expand by 2.9 percent this year.
