Germany Inflation Rate Accelerates in April


Annual consumer prices in Germany are expected to rise 1.3 percent in April, higher than 1 percent recorded in the previous month. Preliminary figures showed energy prices fell at a slower pace, while cost of services accelerated.

Prices of services accelerated to 2.3 percent in March, following a 1.5 percent increase in March.

Energy cost fell at a slower 1.3 percent, following a 1.6 percent drop in March and a 2.7 percent decrease in February. 

Food prices slowed slightly to 0.5 percent.  

From March to April, prices are expected to decline 0.2 percent.

The harmonized consumer price index for Germany is expected to increase by an annual 1.1 percent in April. Compared with March 2014, it is expected to be down 0.3 percent.
