Ghana Inflation Rate at 16.5 percent in February


Ghanese annual inflation rate rose to 16.5 percent in February of 2015, from 16.4 percent reported in the previous month, due to increase in food cost.

Year-on-year, food prices rose to 7 percent compared to 6.9 percent growth in January .In February the biggest prices increases were reported for: housing, water, electricity and gas (28.6 percent), clothing and footwear (22.3 percent), transport prices (25.2 percent), hotels, cafés and restaurants (15.6 percent), furnishings and household equipment (20 percent), education (22.6 percent) and health (15.5 percent).

Month-on-month, consumer prices rose 1.2 percent as food and non-alcoholic beverages’ prices went up 0.5 percent.
