Italy Unemployment Rate Falls to 12.6% in January


The Italian jobless rate decreased to 12.6 percent in the first month of the year from a revised 12.7 percent in December. It is the second consecutive fall as the number of unemployed people declined slightly while employment edged up.

In January of 2015, the number of unemployed persons decreased 0.6 percent to 3.22 million. The largest drop was recorded for females (-2.2 percent).

There were 22.320 million persons employed, 11 thousand more than in the previous month (+0.1 percent).

Youth unemployment declined 0.1 percent to 41.2 percent in January.
