Germany Inflation Rate Down to 1.2% in February


Consumer prices in Germany are expected to rise by 1.2% in February 2014 compared with February 2013, according to the preliminary data released by the Federal Statistical Office. The relatively low inflation rate is mainly due to decrease in energy prices.

Compared with February 2013 goods prices increased only 0.6 percent with food prices rising 3.5 percent and energy cost decreasing by 2.7 percent. Prices of services grew 1.8 percent with rents rising 1.5 percent.
 
Compared with January 2014, consumer prices expected to be up by 0.5 percent.
