Mexico GDP Growth Confirmed at 2.5% YoY in Q4


The Mexican economy expanded 2.5 percent year-on-year in the last quarter of 2015, compared to a 2.6 growth in the previous period, according to the final estimates. While services sector growth accelerated, industrial and agricultural sectors rose at a slower pace.

The services sector grew at a faster 3.7 percent (3.4 percent in Q3) and above preliminary estimates of 3.5 percent expansion.
  
The industrial sector went up 0.2 percent, worse than a preliminary 0.6 percent and 1.3 percent increase in the previous period. The slowdown was mainly driven by drop in mining sector (-4.5 percent, of which oil -3.4 percent and non-oil -8.7 percent).

Agricultural output rose 2.7 percent, lower than initial estimate of 3.0 percent and 1.3 percent increase in the previous quarter.

On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.5 percent, slowing from a 0.8 percent growth in the third quarter.
