Mexico GDP Advances 0.7% in Q4


The Mexican economy expanded 0.7 percent on quarter in the last three months of 2014, up from a 0.5 percent expansion in the previous period but below market expectations.

Quarter-on-quarter, services expanded at a faster 0.9 percent from 0.5 percent in the previous three months. The industrial sector went up 0.6 percent (0.4 percent in the third quarter) and agriculture shrank 2.2 percent after increasing 2.5 percent in the preceding three months.

Year-on-year, the economy expanded 2.6 percent, the highest pace in two years.

Considering full 2014, the GDP grew 2.1 percent. For 2015, the central bank targets growth between 2.5 percent and 3.5 percent.
