Greece Unemployment Rate Steady at 25.8%


Greek seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained unchanged at 25.8 percent in November of 2014 when compared with the previous month as more people stopped looking for a job.

The number of inactive persons – that neither worked neither looked for a job – grew 1.1 percent over the last month.

The number of unemployed persons fell 1.1 percent compared with the previous month to 1,229,367. When compared with November of 2013, the number of unemployed diminished by 27,720 persons.

In November, the number of employed persons decreased by 0.8 percent over October to 3,538,308 persons. Year-on-year, it increased by 1.5 percent. 

Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 50.6 percent, the same as October. It is the highest rate among age groups. Yet, in November of 2013, it was 57 percent.

Among decentralized administration, Attica presented the highest unemployment rate (26.8 percent) while Aegean reported the lowest (20.8 percent).
