Greece Unemployment Rate Lowest Since August 2012


Greek seasonally adjusted jobless rate decreased marginally to 25.8 percent in October of 2014 from a revised 26 percent in the previous month as employment rose and unemployment fell.

Figures for September were revised upwards to show unemployment rate at 26 percent from an initial 25.7 percent. 

In October, employment increased 0.2 percent over the previous month to 3,585,234 persons. Year-on-year, it increased 2.1 percent. 

The number of unemployed persons fell 1.1 percent compared with September to 1,245,340. Year-on-year, it dropped 7.7 percent. 

There were 3,288,819 inactive persons (persons that neither worked neither looked for a job) in October, 0.1 percent more than in September but 0.3 percent less than a year earlier. 

Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 50.6 percent. It is the highest rate among age groups.
