German Unemployment Rate Steady at 5.2%


In November, Germany's adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.2 percent, its lowest level in more than two decades. A total of 2.20 million people were unemployed, down by 94 thousand over a year earlier.

On a monthly basis, the number of unemployed people declined by 29,000 or 1.4 percent. The unadjusted number of unemployed amounted to 2.13 million. A total of 42.2 million persons resident in Germany were in employment.

The number of persons in employment rose by 245 thousand or 0.6 percent compared with the same month a year earlier. After seasonal adjustment, that is, after the elimination of the usual seasonal fluctuations, the number of persons in employment rose by 26,000 in November compared with the previous month.
