Albania Industry Confidence Remains Weak in Q3
The industry confidence indicator in Albania increased by 9.7 points from the previous period to -20.3 in the third quarter of 2020, as coronavirus-induced restrictions were gradually lifted. Still, the indicator remains well below pre-pandemic levels. The production balance sub-index jumped by 21.9 points and the gauge for order books rose by 9.9 points. Meanwhile, stock of inventories contributed to the dynamic of the indicator slightly on the downside.
Albania Industrial Sentiment Falls to Record Low
Albania’s industrial confidence index declined to -29.7 in the second quarter of 2020 from an upwardly revised -5.7 in the previous period. It was the lowest reading in industrial morale since on record, amid the coronavirus crisis. Sentiment weakened regarding the financial situation (-59.8 vs -6.5 in Q1); and expectations over employment (-2.5 vs 4.9) deteriorated. Meanwhile, expectations improved regarding output (33.9 vs 32.7) and selling prices (7.3 vs 1.7).
Albania Industry Confidence Falls to Over 3-1/2-Year Low
Albania’s industrial confidence index decreased to -4.8 in the first quarter of 2020 from a downwardly revised -1.6 in the previous period. It was the lowest reading in industry morale since the second quarter of 2016, mainly due to a decline in financial situation (-4.4 vs 12.3). On the other hand, expectations improved for output (32.8 vs 24.5), employment (5.6 vs 2.1) and selling prices (1.7 vs -0.6).
